We’re absolutely thrilled that our very own Khadijah Mellah not only took part in but won the Magnolia Cup, a charity, all-women race at Goodwood races last August. Khadijah has been riding with us at Ebony since the age of twelve and jumped at the chance when Oli Bell [hyperlink to patron page] approached us with the opportunity for one of our senior members to race for the Magnolia Cup. Over just a couple of months, Khadijah trained at the British Racing School in New Market alongside studying and completing her A Levels, and finally raced and won with her horse ‘Haverland’ on the 1st of August 2019.

As if the training, racing and A levels weren’t enough, Khadijah’s journey from start to finish line was followed by ITV who then produced the documentary ‘Riding a Dream’. The show was seen by over a million people when it aired in November, and we all had great fun attending the première at the Ritzy cinema in Brixton alongside our patron Oli Bell and president of our club The Duchess of Cornwall.

Khadijah has been an inspiration to us all, we’re so proud of her and can’t wait to see what’s next.
