Ain’t no mountain high enough

Two very brave individuals have stepped forward to raise money for our charity by taking on two immense challenges.

As a charity, Ebony Horse Club needs to find funding each year just to keep the gates open to local children and young people who would otherwise never have the opportunity to learn to horse ride.

Funding also enables us to provide critical youth work support where the potential of every young rider is encouraged and nurtured – on and off a horse.

We are more than a riding school, offering in depth mentoring and support in accessing further/higher education and employment opportunities.

We are very fortunate to be supported by lots of kind individuals keen to help us raise money.

Two in particular have recently caught our attention.

Beth Adlemann, a former volunteer, will be heading to Iceland for a 52 mile trek from 22 to 25 July.

Ahead of her trip, which involves a trek equivalent to two marathons in two days, Beth explained: “When I first discovered Ebony Horse Club and the great work it does in the local community I was intrigued and quickly signed up as a volunteer. I was lucky enough to horse ride as a child but it has always frustrated me that it is an elitist sport. I love that Ebony provides children living in disadvantaged areas the opportunity to escape and horse ride, right in the centre of London."

She continued "However, with a busy working lifestyle and taking on additional studies, finding the time to volunteer for Ebony became more difficult. So I wanted to show my support for this fantastic charity in another way. I found myself signing up to trek 52 miles over two days in Iceland to raise money and help Ebony continue its wonderful work.”

Our very own young rider, Rhiannon, aged 10, will be scaling the heights of Mount Fuji on Wednesday, 27 July. Rhiannon has been learning to ride in Brixton for two years and Huggy is her favourite pony.

Her mum, Quailyn, said "Rhiannon's older brothers have been obsessed with Japan for at least 10 years, so we have spent the past six years as a family saving for a holiday there. When we looked at taking part in a climb up Mount Fuji we realised it was going to be quite a challenging experience. Rhiannon came up with the idea that she would need some motivation and that raising funds for Ebony Horse Club would help get her to the top! It really is a once in a life time adventure."
